According to my “memories” the last time I visited the museum of country life was this day 3 years ago. Must go again it’s a really lovely place! And obviously appeals to my specific interest in #irish #mythology and #folklore - if you find yourself around our neck of the woods definitely pop in!

It’s finally summer! Bealtaine is definitely one of my favourite times of the year, especially when it’s sunny! So I celebrated with a very short episode about the festival which is available everywhere now! Glad to have my voice back - also, sorry, I have my voice back 😂😂😂 - chief waffler Amanda.

I made a merch shop. While I await delivery of the lead I broke, and try to wrest my voice from the clutches of laryngitis, I figured I may as well be producing! Trying to get the podcast and website self-sustaining is a lot 😂 Whisperofthewinds.myshopify.com

It’s #snag25 and what is #folklore or #mythology without language? So to celebrate, for the next fortnight, check out our YouTube channel for cúpla fochail as Gaeilge

I can’t count, it’s episode 17!
We’ll go back to Bres next time, but to make it all make sense, we need to talk about the Fomorians!

More from the #tuathadédanann this week, with the kingship of Bres. New episode of whisper of the winds #podcast available on all your favourite apps now!
And so I don’t break the habit of a Bluesky lifetime, they’ve stopped even guessing when the leccy is coming back… fun times #blackout #éowyn

Seems like I only use this app to announce that I have no electricity 😂 but storm Éowyn has us in a bad way so needless to say it’s still the dark ages up the hill which makes recording editing and publishing a podcast very difficult!

So, there won’t be an episode this week! Currently trying to rotate charging devices on the single USB port in my car, it’s not going brilliantly! Hasn’t even been a whole day yet, they’re saying it might be 7 days… I might go (more) insane… watch this space (well, the dark room I’m sitting in rn)

#bookreccomendation though it doesn’t tackle Irish mythology, they discuss quite a number of worldwide myths in an interesting way that I may be biased about! #mythology #podcast

Ok I’ve come up with 2 fail proof and foolproof life plans…
(1) somehow make everyone in the world REALLY interested in #Irish #mythology (and my jokes)
(2) follow the Archer & Stonehouse model, become corrupt British politician, write and sell “novels” about corrupt British politicians.
Perfect.

I’m thinking it may actually be easier to fix my laptop charge port than it is to monitor auto transcriptions for um… mistakes!
For the record, this sentence was “Partholon was a son of Noah” and I checked, I definitely said that! 😂 I’m not sure the whole machine/ AI takeover is on course tbh

There are some minor compatibility issues between me and podcasting, most of which are technological (some of which are the lack of talent & humour, & a sinus infection but for now, let’s focus on the tech!). How does one get a plain text transcription? Typing it myself is currently not an option 🤔

Writing what will be the first episode on the FirBolg in Irish myth, but not the last, I’m reminded how much I ♥️ our prehistoric past, I suppose it’s easy to romanticise it when you’re surrounded by cool stone carvings, in a heated house with prepackaged food, medicine, not being tried as a witch…

It’s the studying I like the most… that’s my hobby, learning stuff in weird detail, so I can then joke about them on a podcast I’m terrified of presenting … getting there with the nerves! 😂
November 29, 2024 at 8:13 AM
We’ve already had one story from Rathcroghan (the Morrigan & Eachtra Nerai, check it out!) but there will be many more. I am absolutely blessed to live nearby and sometimes while passing, I’m compelled to stop. And that is precisely what I did the other night. Thousands of years in one photo

Well this is exciting! And by exciting I mean terrifying because it’s new AND techie 🤣 but I got this far so i can’t be that much of a Luddite… 👀
