I also don't have a problem writ large with Effective Altruism (or at least, what it said it was when it started). I DO have a problem with how today, thanks to the destruction of USAID and a global aid crisis, EA interests (which also focus on weird AI future risks) are taking over the aid sector.

When you look at it even a little bit deeper it becomes clear that the entire thing is “we’re the smartest and coolest and deserve all the money” and worked back from there for a rationale of why they should control it all

Because they're locked in to Team Red and it doesn't matter how crappy Team Red is, it doesn't matter if they cheat, they lose, the coach is bad, the hot dogs are bad, the seats are bad, the cheerleaders are ugly, etc.

Shame. Quite liked Wendy's in my youth. Much better burgers than McDonalds (which I could never stand) and Frosties were delish!
