Writing THE ZOMBIE FILES — four books, one family, and what each of them will trade for the other three.
Book One: BELL HOLLOW, coming soon.
The family plan is: go up into the woods, then walk seventy miles. Everyone's agreed.

Kay, 21, has the question nobody else asked out loud — so what happens to the animals?

Two dogs, three cats, one of them fourteen. She took a child's wagon and built them a way out. She brought the drawings.

The central family in my books are all unlucky, everything that can go wrong does, and then some. They find some luck along the way. Kay, she tends to have some extra luck on her side. Give a follow, and learn more about her in tomorrows post. #writesky #writingcommunity #writingpromts #WrenLockett

Do you consider your character lucky, unlucky, or neither?

Do they live a charmed life? Or do things usually go wrong for them?

Would they agree with your assessment?

Hello — I'm Wren. I write about ordinary people doing arithmetic in terrible circumstances.

BELL HOLLOW is book one of four. A mother, her father, her son, her daughter. Each keeps a record of what happened. None of them ever reads anybody else's.

The reader is the only one who gets all four

Nick is sixteen, six foot two, trained since he was four — and the most useful thing he can do for his family is sign a form at a post office once a month.

A household must be filed by a man of at least sixteen. He's the only one they've got.

He does it for ten months.

"The man in the parking lot had been walking into the wall for a while before I noticed him."

First line of BELL HOLLOW. It's about four people in one family and what they turn out to be willing to trade for each other.

I'll introduce you to all of them this week.
