Map of Havenford — the district where my story takes place :)

A top view of a black and white drawing of a cyberpunk megalopolis, called Havenford. It sits inside the bowl of a massive crater, the buildings sprawled in a messy bunch. At the center of the basin, a metal building identified as 'the Dart' so impossibly tall that it served as a landmark. A wide street rings around its base, four colossal intersector highways radiating from it in perfect symmetry, dividing the district into quarters before climbing the crater walls toward the rim. Encircling everything is 'the Crown', perched along the edge of the crater like a jeweled ring, its towers overlooking the rest of Havenford in all their snobbish glory. Beyond the Crown, the settlement ends almost abruptly. The city gives way to an endless desert of scorched clay and blackened stone wasteland. There are four circles around certain parts of the city in the crater bowl, 4 different neighbourhoods. The one in the northwest reads "Timberash", the one in the northeast reads "Yellowview", the one in the southwest reads "Hillcrest" and the least on, in the south, reads "Ashbury".

Axios: AI has become my reading buddy as I've plowed through my summer book list, helping me keep track of plots and characters, unpack themes, and make sense of wordy, old prose. Why it matters: The way many of us actually read books — a few pages before bed, a chapter at the beach, another on a plane — makes it easy to lose the thread. AI can help you pick it back up without starting over. 📖 I really got into using AI while reading James Fenimore Cooper's "The Last of the Mohicans." The text was far too dense for casual vacation reading. My first prompt asked: "I'd like a guide as I read The Last of the Mohicans who can help me understand what I've read and where the story is, without giving spoilers or getting ahead of my progress. Can you do this, chapter by chapter?" The robot agreed: "Cooper's sentences are long and his diction is archaic."

I'm often told I add too much information between each line of dialogue in my writing, but I can't help it 😭 I love telling the reader what the characters are doing when saying each thing.
