SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING:

The latest Severe Thunderstorm Warning in the Northland will focus along Highway 70 in Washburn and Sawyer counties over the next hour.

Hail and wind gusts are the greatest threat, but this storm did form a funnel cloud near Webb Lake not long ago.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning covers central Washburn and southwest Sawyer counties until 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The greatest threats from this thunderstorm will be wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to 1.25" in diameter. It did form a funnel cloud near Webb Lake earlier this evening, so a brief spin-up tornado is not out of the question.

A new thunderstorm crossing from Minnesota will be capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to 1.25" in diameter.

This severe thunderstorm had produced a funnel cloud earlier this afternoon.

The radar signature is still showing decent rotation west/southwest of Cotton.
A Tornado Warning is in effect for a portion of central St. Louis County until 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026. This is for the region west/southwest of Cotton and west of Highway 53. This thunderstorm has produced a funnel cloud in the past, and is still showing signs of rotation. High winds and hail are also possible with this thunderstorm.

The first Severe Thunderstorm Warning this Tuesday in the Northland is between the Iron Range and Twin Ports region.

Strong winds and hail are possible from this storm.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026 for a portion of central St. Louis County between the Iron Range and Twin Ports regions. It is moving east at about 25 miles per hour. The greatest threats from this thunderstorm will be wind gusts up to 60 mph, along with hail up to 1-inch in diameter. The radar is also detecting weak rotation in the updraft of this storm system, but no word of any wall cloud being spotted as of this post.

The next round of showers and thunderstorms continues to develop and move through the northern half of the Northland.

None of the storms are severe at this moment, but gusty winds, small hail, and heavy rainfall are possible.

We are back to the summer feel in the air with humid dew points and temperatures back to the 80s.

However, this is going to allow showers and thunderstorms to form and pass through the rest of today.

Severe storms are possible...
The satellite and radar over the Northland at 1:30 p.m. on August 25, 2026, shows scattered showers and thunderstorms over northwest Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula regions, moving to the east/northeast. Breaks in the cloud cover are being observed across the region, but the focus is shifting back to the Rainy River Basin region, where new shower and thunderstorm development is already taking place. They are moving to the northeast. We will see more development to the south of this cluster, and it will pass through the Northland the rest of this Tuesday. The Northland is either under a "slight" or "marginal" risk for severe weather conditions for the rest of Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The threat from the strongest thunderstorms will be wind gusts up to 70 mph, hail up to golf-ball size, and possible weak tornadoes. Temperatures in the Northland just after 1 p.m. on August 25, 2026, range from 61 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. They warm as one travels east to west across the region. Dew point readings in the Northland just after 1 p.m. on August 25, 2026, range from 53 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit.

A few sprinkles are possible in the Rainy River Basin, but we should stay dry through most of tonight.

In addition to hail and strong winds, a funnel cloud is possible as well. One was reported near Jenkins.
