Finale of YuGiOh rant: I get why there is so much more power creep in this game compared to other TCGs, it's twofold:
1. No actual costs for card effects. Everything can be turned into a gain (unlike others that cost resources like mana/energy)
2. No rotating set list, all cards viable.

I recall back in the day, first turn kill decks were meant to be gimmicks, but now are literally all the meta is. I also recall my turn being about my turn and not the opponents super cool, 10 minute long combo.
