I've made mac 'n' cheese from scratch before. This time, I made it without a recipe.
I'm pleased with how it came out! Roux, half-n-half, dried chives, fresh-grated sharp (yellow—not in New England any more) cheddar, little-shell pasta. A bit of Tajín seasoning. Roux the day! I mean, seize the day!

I left my damn reading glasses at home again. Fortunately, I can read my phone if i hold it at arms length. And in good light. However, I was hoping to knit inside, which is still difficult without glasses. #oldmantroubles

State of the little garden by the front door. Fun fact, we don’t have a back door—three of the apartments in our tiny complex issue into the laundry room and thence to the back courtyard with its giant apple tree.

The second #kakapo chick of the #kakapo2026 breeding season hatched this morning: Hine Taumai-A1-2026 on Ako's nest on Te Kākahu. We transferred the egg from Anchor two nights ago. This is Ako's first-ever chick, which is just a few hours old in this video. #conservation #birds #parrots

I created a font for mosaic knitting (a color-work style) and tried out various phrases using it. One constraint on making the font: you must be able to knit it from any direction. That explains how the letters aren't as dark and the background isn't as light as they could be.
