Really glad the KC weather had finally become manageable, by going from 100+ heat index, to 70's & rainy.
I also hate that, as it's messed with my arthritis and fucked with my back & neck days before I go out of town...where it's 100+ with the heat index...

Really glad the KC weather had finally become manageable, by going from 100+ heat index, to 70's & rainy.

Friday night and I'm back at Screenland Armour for another round of @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHT. And this week is special, as I get to see one of my favorite films on the big screen, because it's the PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE!!!!

You just KNEW Ospreay was walking out as champion, just weren't sure exactly in what fashion it would transpire. And while it did go the route of least resistance, it still told and wove a story/battle worthy of the giddy nerds in the middle of the ring. Well done, Ospreay. Well done, Omega. #allin

I say this rarely, but there were times during this movie I felt sick. BOWELS OF HELL is a wild film I need people to see. Its cold open has beats of THE COFFEE TABLE, while the rest of it feels like the demonic love child of John Waters, Frank Henenlotter & Lloyd Kaufman. Disgusting and hilarious.

I say this rarely, but there were times during this movie I felt sick. BOWELS OF HELL is a wild film I need people to see. Its cold open has beats of THE COFFEE TABLE, while the rest of it feels like the demonic love child of John Waters, Frank Henenlotter & Lloyd Kaufman. Disgusting and hilarious.
Mentally & physically have been broken by an entire month of mandatory overtime & extreme heat, but thankfully movies have kept me going.
Remember, while big budgets & high concepts get a lots of mainstream attention, nothing beats a simple & efficient film done right.

KC Film Fans: yes, this is coming a little late, but I didn't think I'd end up sick this week & missing a movie screening, yet it did lead me to find out the IMAX in Branson is the closest place showing THE ODYSSEY in true 1.43:1, as the film was shot in. It's not 70MM IMAX but the closest to it.

I know it's a basic or stupid take, but personally I feel like NETFLIX should stop trying to buy anything it can (based on the news they wanna buy Letterboxd) and focus on making some really good content, instead of vomiting anything & everything it can mass dump out, all the time.
