I’m not sure you get it. Point is that hazards exist when cycling that aren’t necessarily related to lack of “bike infrastructure.” No one argues my friend wouldn’t have broken his neck. And as nice as infrastructure is, it’s not always attainable for various reasons. Helmets are a no brainer.

Exactly. My friend who broke his neck biking hit a piece of rebar in a parking lot. Better bike infrastructure would not have changed that.
