🇨🇦 IT geek. I raved in the 90s, ranted in the 2000s, got sober in the 2010s, and am starting to mellow into my late 40s. I worship nature.

Imagine if they had scrapped the horrible Site C project which was past the point of no return when the NDP government inherited it from the BC Liberals... Which was already way over budget. We won't see a return on that investment for decades. :(

... I like her, but we need Avi right now. Canada's Mamdani!

Well, had the NDP chosen MacPherson as leader... We would have been open to the ongoing criticism that there's no difference between us and the Liberals.
However, now that the Liberals are governing like Progressive Concervatives, maybe Heather's centrist policy seems leftist.

Correction: opposition in 4 provinces

The BC Liberals changed their name and finally admitted they were Conservatives all along....

Sure, the provincial parties in Sask and Alberta are strategically distancing themselves from green new deal Leap manifesto stuff ... Nenshi isn't really a New Democrat.
March 30, 2026 at 12:08 PM
Are you saying Alberta is the only place in Canada where the NDP are competitive? Only in Heather's riding....

We are government in 2 provinces, and official opposition in 2 others!

I don't see MacPherson crossing the floor to the Liberals as a likely outcome.

Cool. Can we stop subsidizing the billionaires behind these projects now, and start taxing them to cut the deficit? 🤔

Canada's Mamdani.
NDP can't be a centrist Liberal lite. We need a progressive party now more than ever. The Liberal party under Carney are "progressive conservatives"
Avi was the right choice. We need to push for big policy changes.
March 29, 2026 at 4:27 PM
The Social Democrats of Canada don't want to be centrist. Heather's big tent rhetoric didn't resonate .. NDP needs to be clearly distinct from the Liberal Party. Leftists need a place to go once they fall out of love with Carney.
March 29, 2026 at 4:17 PM
If Heather had been put in charge the NDP would have been occupying the space the Liberals used to ... With the LPC occupying the space the Progressive Conservative party used to ... And we would have lost the activist wing that got us universal healthcare, pharmacare, and dental.

reparations would not be out of the question. I envision a peace settlement where Israel guarantees security for a new Palestinian state. They both promise to not attack each other (cross your hearts and hope to die, stick a needle in their eyes) and in return Israel protects Palestine.

You may say I'm a dreamer...
But Israel owes Gaza/Palestinians the full cost of rebuilding the buildings that have been bombed. (Basically all buildings in all of Gaza have been destroyed at this point) ... If put on trial for war grimes, attempted genocide, and crimes against humanity,

I believe Carney did just voice support for a 2-state solution:
