being able to buy a little short plug for this is kinda cool actually; the US version of this light you just have to wire up like a typical ceiling fixture so you're just working with whatever is up there in the ceiling (and the US one _does_ need the ground wire)

All that plastic connector stuff and the boot you put the wires inside are made to double mega insulate the power from the metal part, so it's designed to not need a ground. you could probably buy an ungrounded plug instead if you don't want to have the extra one unused
