Even people who ARE successful in business have few lessons to teach us, I always think. Survivor bias (a logic error) which means we - and they- focus on supposed “lessons” of their success, ignoring the many people who did exactly the same thing and still failed.
“Luck” is often the real lesson.

We should be instantly sceptical of people selling the “secrets” of their success. Really successful people are too busy doing the thing that made them a success; they have no need or incentive to sell the “secret”. Either they want it kept secret, or if they’re feeling altruistic it would be free.
My next book has a whole section on the psychology behind "People becoming successful by simply lying about already being successful then charging other people to learn their 'secrets' about how to become successful".
This would make a perfect case study, but I doubt the legal team will go with it.

As far as I can see, the success of Chelsea FC's appeal against a 6-point penalty hinged on the appeal board finding that having players like Eden Hazard and Willian (173 goals for Chelsea combined) did not confer a sporting advantage.
