A pointed take on the far left in the article:
Melissa DeRosa: “It [the SC primary] will reward the candidate who can assemble the core Democratic coalition – not simply excite the loudest, most homogeneous fringe faction of the party."

Though to be clear, I disagree with the negative takes on @kamalaharris.com's chances here. Yes, I'm biased on this. I acknowledge that. But she's also beloved here, draws huge crowds, & has incredible strength among Black voters, especially young Black women in SC.
This is a good article on the South Carolina primary and how Democrats campaign and win here in the primary.
SC to hold first 2028 Democratic primary. What it means for candidates
Since 1992, South Carolina primary voters have picked the winning candidate when Democrats won the White House. Who's likely to do well there in 2028?

Hey @iowademocrats.bsky.social, in her statement opposing the 2028 Democratic primary calendar, your chair, Rita Hart, said there's no state on that early calendar that has a majority of its population in the Mountain or Central time zones. New Mexico, which goes 4th, is in the Mountain time zone.

It's actually good for Iowa Democrats for them to not be an early state in 2028. The last thing Sand, Turek, and the candidates running in competitive House races need is Newsom or Khanna parachuting into Iowa and nationalizing their races.

I've queued today's @democrats.org's meeting up to Iowa Democratic Chair Rita Hart's objection to the 2028 calendar. As you'll hear, she says the calendar excludes any state w/ a majority in the Mountain time zone. New Mexico's 4th & it's in the Mountain time zone. Embarrassing error by Rita Hart.

There is literally no way that Nevada and Michigan's races this November are going to "tip the scales" in the Democratic Party's ideological debate. Politico's a joke. But yes, it will force Democratic presidential contenders to run in more leftist primary states.

Black voters are the heart and soul of the Democratic Party. They’re the base of the party. Anyone arguing that Iowa or New Hampshire should go first in 2028 is nuts.

Presidential candidates talk to voters in South Carolina too. If that's your argument for wanting Iowa or New Hampshire to go first, you're not really concerned about candidates getting to talk with voters, you're really concerned about the voters they're talking to here in South Carolina. 🤔

At a time when Black voters in the South are literally fighting for their voting rights, it is racist for Dem party leaders from white states to complain that Black voters are going before their own white voters on the 2028 Democratic primary calendar. Period. This isn't complicated, folks.

If, like me, you abhor antisemitism and believe that antisemites should have no place in the Democratic Party, South Carolina going first is the absolutely best news. We have no use for antisemites down here. #FITN

I'm completely done with bullshit. And this is bullshit from New Hampshire's Ray Buckley, complaining about South Carolina & not New Hampshire, will go first. I've already talked w/ five potential candidates here in SC: Harris, Newsom, Kelly, Moore, & Emanuel. Candidates talk to voters in SC.

Really boorish behavior from Rita Hart, head of the Iowa Democratic Party, & Ray Buckley, head of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, that, frankly, comes across as racist, objecting to South Carolina going first & their lily-white states either not being an early state or not going first.
