As I’ve written before, there’s no distinction between politics and the car industry in Germany. Three state governors from different parties are once again calling on Europe to allow the internal combustion engine free rein. To be honest, they're incapable of thinking.

Diesel’s up 8.5 cents today. 4 cents yesterday. Up 72.5% in a year, and the rate of price increases is accelerating. Brutal.

so this is a bonanza for some specific parts of the Republican coalition, bad news for most other people (including Trump), and the kind of thing that starts to structurally change economies.
we've reached a new milestone- the U.S. average diesel price has hit $6.301/gal while gasoline is up to $4.355/gal. I expect both of these to jump noticably over the next 48 hours. diesel could hit $6.60/gal in a few days, surpassing the inflation-adjusted peak seen in 2022.

The national average for diesel is currently $6.40 a gallon, and analysts expect it to get worse.

This is not sustainable.

Why are diesel prices so much higher than regular gas?
