Germany’s finance minister and several state governments on Thursday urged the EU to adopt tougher measures to shield the German auto industry from rapidly rising Chinese competition.

As I’ve written before, there’s no distinction between politics and the car industry in Germany. Three state governors from different parties are once again calling on Europe to allow the internal combustion engine free rein. To be honest, they're incapable of thinking.

What's the compound German word for dead thralls of the horse-and-buggy crowd trying to print one more quarter worth of ill-gotten profits based on 19th-century technology while externalizing CO₂ costs and hurting future competitiveness?
