Germany's government agreed to a tank rebate and a fuel price cap to ease soaring pump prices, but critics warned the plan was costly, technically unclear and risked fuel supply.
Gas prices hit $4.46 a gallon today — a gain of 17 cents over the previous week and $1.26 higher than the same point last year.
Diesel prices are up more than $2.74 from a year ago.
