Neuroscientists at the University of Budapest found that dogs’ brains, like humans’, preferentially tracked consonant-based patterns in continuous speech, suggesting exposure to human talk reshaped canine auditory processing.
Based on how wildly off the mark this statement is on animal cognition, could it also be too quick to reject that for AI? Not too long ago behaviorists said the same about humans. Not sure that AI can think or understand, but what evidence would it take to concede that possibility?
AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems:
