German foreign minister Johann Wadephul in Ottawa said President Donald Trump's invitation for Vladimir Putin to the Miami G20 was an "opportunity" for serious negotiations.

I'm starting to suspect Trump had only one thing in mind, exchange US sitting out Chinese invasion of Taiwan in exchange for China sitting out American invasion of Cuba. Once Xi Jinping agreed to such a great deal for China, the meeting's done.

Trump administration's announcement that it will program all Ukraine aid funds will reinforce Kremlin view. Something I've observed in U.S.-Russia relations past 25 years is that the Kremlin never accepts the notion that the U.S. chief executive is obligated by Congressional statute to do things.
