President Donald Trump said the United States and Cuba would reach a deal and that he did not expect to need military intervention, after threats prompted international criticism.
Trump: "I'm rejecting their deal. They want to make a deal where they open the strait immediately ... we're winning tremendously. We have total control of the Hormuz Strait ... that deal would not be acceptable. They want to immediately open the Hormuz Strait."

Trump did not need to threaten annexation to expand America’s military presence in Greenland.
The U.S. already had extensive rights under a 1951 agreement with Denmark.
Cooperation could have achieved this deal without the damage caused by coercion:

The heart of that discourse is whether the US should retreat from the "first island chain" and instead focus on the "second island chain". I think that's a discussion worth having, as the first island chain does leave US forces vulnerable and might be unnecessarily provocative towards China.

Why doesn’t the USA want the Strait of Hormuz open? I guess this means the USA is indeed responsible for high fuel prices and coming shortages.

Why doesn’t the USA want the Strait of Hormuz open? I guess this means the USA is indeed responsible for high fuel prices and coming shortages.
