About half of the European population has already breathed air this year with ozone levels rated from 'bad' to 'extremely bad'. Ozone can penetrate deep into the airways and cause coughing, burning eyes and shortness of breath. It can also trigger asthma attacks and worsen symptoms in people with respiratory conditions.
