Butterfly wings fool hunting birds

British ecologists found that bright colors and fluttering wings created optical illusions that confused birds, making butterflies harder to catch.

Have you checked out the new mural on Perranporth Library? Painted by street artist Mark Anthony, aka ATM, it depicts the Silver-studded Blue and Grizzled Skipper butterflies, both of which breed on nearby Gear Sands, along with their larval foodplants.
