If Democrats get functional majorities in both chambers after the midterms, it would be generational political suicide for them not to abolish the filibuster. That's the best case scenario.

Worst case scenario is that it would be the last straw that breaks our democracy's back.

"the combination of Trump’s utter lack of self-awareness and his overconfident insistence that “More Trump” will help Republicans in the midterms is a prescription for crushing defeat of historic proportions."

The best thing non-Trump Republicans can do to save their party is to vote for Democrats for every office in this election. Only a resounding defeat for Republicans will break the Trump fever. Also, by voting for Democrats, they will ensure a larger, more moderate, less leftist Dem House majority.

Dems have serious power coming our way on 11/3 if we're smart enough to use it. "Now or never" threats from GOP, Big Oil, etc. are absurd. API & others will still want permitting reform in 3 mos. Ever-bluffing TACO Trump saying "this or nothing" is weak sauce. We can do better than pre-caving here.
