"Releasing over 700 files at once is not a demonstration of scholarship, but a demonstration of power. We urge mathematicians to discontinue their work with OpenAI and to return to a vision of science that centers human understanding."
The human mathematicians are not happy with OpenAI. It’s a fascinating argument. Not about capabilities, but about the culture and norms of science.

Folks, we’re awfully close to losing the plot entirely, and that’s being generous. The consciousness debate is a silly dead end distraction from the very real danger of AI’s destruction of institutions and degradation of our own humanity.
Over the past year, Anthropic has repeatedly flirted with the idea that its AI models could be conscious in some way. In February, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said on a podcast, “We don’t know if the models are conscious.”

#AI dials problems with industry-academia asymmetries to 15 on a ten-point scale ... and will produce tons of non-replicable and non-reproducible work as LLMs evolve. Instead of learning from our problems with social media research, we're repeating our own mistakes: academic.oup.com/anncom/advan...
Do algorithmic information environments mark the end of media effects research?
Abstract. Algorithmically curated information environments are beginning to challenge both long-standing notions of what media effects look like and our ab

Pour Hugo Duminil-Copin, à propos des scientifiques et des mathématiciens en particulier : « toute cette culture de la circulation vole en éclats ».
