The Trump Administration launches an investigation into the major networks over the stand-off after CNN, MSNBC and Politico were barred

The Department of Justice says it is investigating ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX and NBC to determine whether the White House pool's suspension of coverage violated antitrust law. The announcement comes after the group of five networks — ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX and NBC — stopped covering presidential activities following the administration's decision to bar CNN from White House access. Emily Covington, a department spokesperson, said that coordinated sit-ins among competing media outlets could violate U.S. antitrust laws. "The Antitrust Division is simply investigating to determine whether these news organizations have violated antitrust laws," she told The New York Times.
