Yet somehow the NPR news report today on Russian oil, war in Iran, ⬆️ diesel prices concludes by noting Trump in the 2026 midterm faces the same issue Biden did in 2024 - people feeling the economy is bad even though POTUS says it's great. Media using "both sides" to remake history & reality
METLIFE: “.. A larger share of households, roughly 42% of them, reported that their financial situation was somewhat or significantly worse than it was one year ago.”

3/ So now Trump wants to give Putin a lot of money for Russian diesel, which won’t do anything to markets and won’t even help him in the midterms though I bet Putin told him it would.

Trump is telling Americans that Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil facilities is the reason diesel prices are high. THAT IS A LIE. Ukraine's attacks had no perceptible impact on diesel prices; Trump's Iran war is the cause of the spike.

Here's the data, straight from the Trump Administration itself.

Donald Trump and his war in Iran are to blame for our nation's sky-high diesel and gas prices. His latest ploy—buying fuel from his friend Vladimir Putin—reeks of weakness and will help pay for Russia’s war but will do nothing to make life more affordable for American families.

"The 2.25m barrels of diesel Putin offered Trump will have zero net impact on the world price of diesel. But accepting them will collapse the US-led sanctions regime on Russia—and align Trump with Putin against Ukraine's attacks on Russian energy production..."

Trump Is an Easy Mark for Putin
The president’s diesel deal sells out Ukraine, and does nothing for Americans.
