3/ So now Trump wants to give Putin a lot of money for Russian diesel, which won’t do anything to markets and won’t even help him in the midterms though I bet Putin told him it would.

1/ It looks like Putin told Trump that Ukraine was causing high gas prices, a lie that is convenient for Trump.

Yet somehow the NPR news report today on Russian oil, war in Iran, ⬆️ diesel prices concludes by noting Trump in the 2026 midterm faces the same issue Biden did in 2024 - people feeling the economy is bad even though POTUS says it's great. Media using "both sides" to remake history & reality
METLIFE: “.. A larger share of households, roughly 42% of them, reported that their financial situation was somewhat or significantly worse than it was one year ago.”

4/ But since Russia and Iran are allies, the shift in US policy and any US taxpayer money that Trump gives Putin will help both the Russian war on Ukraine as well as the regime in Iran.

2/ Obviously it’s Trump’s war in Iran that is the issue. But Trump can’t accept that.

🧵 Carney and Zelenskyy discussed the new agreement between US and Russia to supply diesel to US. PM Carney was clear: this agreement is in direct opposition to the efforts of Ukraine, Canada, and our allies to create peace and stability in Europe.

My article in Kyiv Post today, "Trying to Make Sense of Trump’s Ukraine Policy." My main argument is that Trump, Kushner and Witkoff seem most interested in making big money with Putin on Ukraine's misery

Does Trump’s Ukraine Policy Make Any Sense?
Trump’s “diesel deal” with Russia shows once again that he is pro-Russian and an enemy of Ukraine.

Important correction here. Not that it changes the substance of the matter, but the record has to be set straight anyway.
This undermines claims (which I also voiced) that Trump had settled his "diesel deal" with Putin in September. It seems not to be the case.
