Also related, have you seen co-dfns? It's an APL-based highly-parallel compiler designed to run on GPUs.

(apparently the code is extremely terse—mind, that's according to APL programmers, so— but the author's doctoral thesis is apparently pretry coherent scholarworks.iu.edu/iuswrrest/ap...)
