And if you're responding to this thread you're HIGHLY LIKELY to not be representative of the average US video game consumer. You're much more likely to be part of the enthusiast or professional audience - your tastes/preferences/behavior are very likely to differ, no need to explain that to me.

Quickly moving from folks claiming no Gen AI usage in games is acceptable to well... so long as no Gen AI is used in the final game that's okay. Next step is limited Gen AI in the final game is fine to just never talking about Gen AI use again.

Rebel Wolves' CEO has explained the developer's stance on AI, saying it has been used in early stages of development of The Blood of Dawnwalker to "avoid" putting pressure on staff.

Sales of the console were never noticeably or significantly impacted by the PC releases existing, and Ghost of Yotei finished at #11 in tracked full game $ sales for the year in the US, so can't even say that assumed non-exclusivity hurt it either.
Ultimately, the new shift won't really matter.

PS4 Pro fun facts... in the US, PS4 Pro accounted for 13% of total lifetime PS4 units, and about 15% of dollars. Total PS4 unit volume trend did not change significantly when PS4 Pro released, but average price went up. Succeeded at driving incremental sales to the super enthusiast (not mass) base.

Today is Michaelmas Day which marks the day in the calendar after which you shouldn’t pick or eat blackberries. Depending on your regional bent, folklore tells that on this day the devil fell out of heaven and landed in a blackberry bush, cursing them in fury…

When copycats appear really fast, folks wonder why all games can’t be made that fast.
It’s because a copycat has no problem with indecision. All decisions are already made.

Anyways, 6th calendar year for PS5 = 2025.
I wonder if the average sales price for a PS5 in its 7th calendar year can beat PS3's 1st year record high.

I said in a reply to a question that we saw no significant change to PlayStation player count or engagement in Circana's Player Engagement Tracker US panel data.
That's it. I said literally nothing else about it.
I did not speak to or imply anything beyond what we see in our own internal data.

The recent PlayStation blackout boycott reportedly had no "significant" change in player engagement with the platform, according to an analyst. https://bit.ly/4h5lzMd

Important to note that for the US software charts, sales of software bundled with hardware are not included. Those dollars are allocated to the hardware sale (the idea being that the hardware is the primary purchase in a hardware bundle).
I'll add a footnote in the next release.
