press windows key + R and type %appdata% and hit Enter. Then browse into Local->MW5Mercs. Select everything and copy-paste it out and away from that folder (maybe excluding the Savegame folder if you want to retain your savegame) to see if the crashes persist.

(It’s even geekier than it seems — I was originally playing on AppleTV via OneCast. So getting that file required pressing an old PC into temporary service as a gaming rig to force a savegame there.)

They'd set an auto-update thing to an older version of firefox so every day it would automatically update only for that setting to go "no that's wrong" and roll it back, which made it do the "this savegame is for a newer version of the game" nonsense and choke
