##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustIt's CartAugust!

Hi. I'm Cheyenne, the creator of the Akrodaxis. The Akrodaxis is a galaxy, but for this month I'll be focused on Drakïrü, a planet inside the Akrodaxis. I have one completed and one in-progress map for this world. These were made in Wonderdraft, which is an excellent program!
Two maps made in the program Wonderdraft. The top map is an island titled "Tsinna Clanhold". It has hills, trees, mountains, a desert, and rivers on it. The bottom map is titled "Planet Drakïrü" and is unfinished. CartAugust prompts by @mcburnellauthor.bsky.com. There are 31 prompts. The prompt for today (August 1) reads "Introduce yourself and your world".

I am bloody determined to get this map done 😤

I'm happy with it so far but there's still some details to add. Fingers crossed I can exploit my #hyperfixation to get it done soon 😂

Full colour (unfinished) digital TTRPG region map, made in Inkarnate. The map depicts the Percipience Balconies, a district in the highest peaks of the Pinion Cordillera mountain range. The terrain is bordered by clouds and sky, indicating the high-altitude location. To the west, a cluster of circular-roofed buildings surrounded by blue waterways represent the Academy Dorms. Each structure is connected by wooden bridges and walkways. Adjacent to the dorms on the cliff’s northern edge is an airship dock, consisting of four platforms, two ticket and information desks, and several benches. The central section is Zephyr Plaza, consisting of six yellow-roofed buildings with forecourts that include seating arrangements for outdoor dining and drinking. These buildings are evenly spaced around a central hole in the cliff, overlaid with a transparent, arcane-infused glass surface that appears to be powered and stabilised by six evenly distributed blue crystal pylons. A decorative fountain sits at the centre of this surface, surrounded by benches. To the south of Zephyr Plaza, three wide gold-toned Arches mark the top of the Sculpted Steps, a structured and ordered descent to a lower level. To the east, a circular arrangement of seven main buildings with attached gardens comprises the Faculty Residences, each corresponding to one of the Academy’s seven Schools of Discipline. A central path loops around the area, granting access to each building. Additional smaller residences are positioned around the main seven. Glowing lines between the garden plots act both as safety barriers and as magical fences, with colour coding indicating the school affiliation of each residence. All barrier lines are connected to blue crystal nodes that also trace the cliff edges and elevated walkways across the map. A single building directly south of the Faculty Residences functions as a polytheistic temple, accompanied by a small graveyard. This map is incomplete, with final details needed.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustNational Parks! On Drakïrü there would be lots of National Parks, but one area that comes to mind is the stretch of Black Cliffs on the coast of Dekakïrü. This is where Årdra's Leap is located, and millions travel there every year to yeet their children during the Zeso Yadh (Honor Leap) rite.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustDrakïrü is thought to be the only planet in the Akrodaxis that contains senecïnï. The crystal is coveted by other space-faring races because of its use in årdrakin stardrives, a technology the empire doesn't share. If it were ever discovered elsewhere, the empire will race to possess it first.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustGood soil. Almost all of Drakïrü has it, which supports the enormous trees and lush plant life across the planet. In particular, the Imperial Yodesï Clanhold is a great location for growing various fruits and vegetables, although the årdrakin are not really farmers the way we envision them.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustRegions of catastrophe. I hadn't put any thought into it but I suppose the traditional Rakï Së Clanhold, where they are primarily maritimers, might have a lot of natural disasters in the form of hurricanes, floods, etc across the islands. The seas there could sometimes be treacherous to navigate.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustDoes the Drakïrü map change? Actually, yes! Between Books 2 and 3 of the All Our Sins Saga, Clan Tsinna falls and is subsumed by its three aggressors, so the political borders end up changing for all of the involved parties. The conquerors split up the Tsinna Clanhold between them.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustIt's hard to choose a favorite location on Drakïrü, mostly because I'm still developing the map. But for now, I think I would say my favorite is Zalanthïr's estate just outside Kojåresï. It's a quiet location in the mountains, surrounded by jungle, rivers, and waterfalls. A perfect retreat.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustThere are no highways on Drakïrü. Since the people can fly and they've invented flying vehicles, they have no real need for paved roads. However, there are high-speed trains (mostly for tourism) and ships that travel at sea. The flying vehicles travel in lanes like airplanes.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustVault of the Lost is a ruined fortress. In the Ancient Age, alien pods were discovered in a vault hidden inside. The awakened aliens attacked the årdrakin, but a white light erupted that killed them. The årdrakin believe Årdra saved them. They haven't ever identified the aliens.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustDrakïrü's power center is the capital city of Anoërakin ("We were born here"). Archaeological and fossil evidence support that the årdrakin people first emerged from the valley this city is located in. The imperial palace is here as well as Vek Ålna (the Vatican of the Årdraan religion).

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustMinerals. Drakïrü has lots of those! In addition to deposits we are used to on Earth, the planet is riddled with two different crystals called lümecïnï ("milk crystal") and senecïnï ("star crystal"). Senecïnï is very important. Poor Clan Tsinna has almost none of it but lots of lümecïnï.

In TA 6159, a superfissure erupted for 3 weeks in Drakïrü's southern hemisphere. 5M årdrakin were killed by pyroclastic flows while hundreds of thousands more succumbed to lahars & ash fallout. ##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustSince most of the planet is temperate and tropical rainforest, it rains a lot on Drakïrü. Spring and autumn are reasonably wet periods, with summer being the most dry. Winter is by far the wettest, as it rains steadily for about three months. This season sees the most storms as well.

##WorldMap##BookMaps##FantasyMaps##MapArt##MapDesign##DigitalMaps##Cartography##CartAugustI have found map-making to be a great asset for worldbuilding. Having to think where people live and why, what geological features are present, and so on, helps a lot in creating culture, important world events, and more. When in doubt, make a map!

Full colour digital TTRPG region map, made in Inkarnate. The map depicts the Opalite Amphitheatre, an open-air lecture and performance space set into a high plateau. The primary structure is an ovoid wooden stage with bronzed metal pipes flanking either side, curving along the back walls and into the roof. A large central crystal node crowns the stage, powering the venue’s advanced arcane systems. Seven broad rows of curved bench seating radiate outward from the stage, each level bordered by glowing blue railings and arcane signage. At the northern edge, the Sculpted Steps ascend toward the Percipience Balconies. Two large arched tunnels provide access to the upper seating tiers. Arcane nodes and connection pathways are visible across the space. In this version, the arcane projector panes are retracted, leaving the sky open above. Full colour digital TTRPG region map, made in Inkarnate. The map depicts the Opalite Amphitheatre — an open-air, arcane-enhanced amphitheatre built into a high mountain plateau. The central structure is a large wooden stage with ovoid walls and an inset roof. Two arrays of bronzed metal pipes, resembling ornate organ flutes, curve around the stage walls and into the roof, functioning as arcane sound projectors. Above the stage, a massive crystal powers translucent blue arcane glass panes, which extend over the amphitheatre to project visuals, sound, and sensory effects. The seating area consists of seven wide, curved, tiered benches, each ringed by glowing blue railings and arcane signage for safety and guidance. To the north, the Sculpted Steps curve upward toward the Percipience Balconies. Two large arched tunnel entrances provide upper-level access. Arcane nodes and pathways are visible throughout. In this image, the projector panes are fully deployed, casting a luminous field over the amphitheatre.
