It’s hard to come back to Halifax after visiting cities with mature cycling infrastructure.
But it’s made much easier by the incredible #KidicalMassHfx community we’ve built. Absolutely beautiful day for our last regular ride of 2026! Thank you to everyone who makes this possible ❤️

Thanks for a great ride today #KidicalMassHfx! It was great to see so many new faces for our Dartmouth #BikeHfx ride, so many great Halloween costumes, and so many smiling people along the route.

PS. If you want to turn heads while riding a bike in this city, Halloween decorations work nicely.
A large ghost is strapped to the front rack of an e-cargo bike, such that it looks like it is floating above the front wheel. The rest of the bike is not visible behind the ghost, but some parts of a kid’s bike that is being carried on the rear rack of the cargo bike can be seen on either side.

The last #KidicalMassHFX of 2026 was in the inner suburbs of Dartmouth. Thanks to the organizers for another fabulous year! Our fine city’s Kidical Mass is and remains my favourite Halifax thing. /1

Ended the 2026 #KidicalmassHFX season off with a successful Halloween themed ride today! Always a pleasure to see so many happy folks cycling together. (We had a furry friend cross the street mid-ride through the crowd this go around; wish I had gotten a pic of the kitty!)

Also, the local Mask Bloc usually keeps the community fridges in Halifax, Dartmouth, and Cole Harbour well stocked. We also have a supply for #KidicalMassHfx, so will have some this weekend.

This is a family-friendly location & time, but the engagement activities will likely need your interpretation for kids' participation.

Evening: found an excuse for a ride, stopped for ice cream, and continued to spread the good word.

On Sep 20 (rain date 27th) we're throwing a Vincent Street block party, between Devonshire and Young.
