I seized the day, but the day had spines. I wiped my bleeding palms upon a pad of ragged minutes pulled at random from the turf. I walked across the matted months; the matted months bore needles, pierced my shoeless soles right through. then, leaving bloody prints, I limped into a dark, foreboding decade from whose dying seasons dangled looped lianas of forgotten hours; but those forgotten hours were thorny — one loop snagged and dropped upon my aching head. I blinked away the rosy sweat that stung my straining eyes, but still I stumbled, fell against a jagged year that speared my side. I scrambled up a gnarled millennium, and hung upon its spreading centuries, my arms outstretched, and waited there as insects gorged at my unclosing wounds.

I appear to be getting unrepentantly worse.
Dangling carcasses twisted behind as he sat toothless, pale and waiting, eyes long collapsed into treacle black trails that crusted on rotting sallow cheeks. Red robed priests brought the child, who held before him a stone plate, upon which sat a freshly cut tongue, glistening and flapping in approach. The boy knelt in mute supplication, lifting the plate to the eyeless prelate, who, fumbling, groping and grabbing, gobbled the tongue in slurping mess. His dessicated hand he then opened, revealing stained brown teeth, that the clerics took and squeezed into the still bloody mouth of the convulsing boy. They left then, the red vicars, returning after a moon had passed, to find only seated bones, and a boy licking cracked lips, with new grown tongue.
