When aurora turns red like this, you’re looking at oxygen glowing more than 120 miles above Earth. During the geomagnetic storm on November 11, the high-altitude reds were the strongest I’ve ever seen.

I'm seeing talk of aurora tonight, and while K-indices are 8 to 9+, Bz swung pretty far north when the CME arrived (+55), so i'm dubious there will be a show.

A trio of monster active regions have rotated into view over the Sun’s eastern horizon. Whilst the front of the Sun has been quiet for a while, these regions were producing significant activity on the Sun’s backside. They will rotate to face Earth later this week. #spaceweather

The entire month of March 2025 in the Sun’s atmosphere, observed in extreme UV light by the SDO and GOES/SUVI spacecraft. Last month saw the lowest sunspot numbers since March 2024, adding weight to the argument that solar maximum has likely already passed! #spaceweather
