An eagle with a laurel sprig in its beak (a symbol of the Abbot’s victory in a dispute with Bishop Oldham) in the late 15th/early 16th century porch tower of Tavistock Abbey Chapel, formerly the monks refectory.

The fifteenth century font at St Eustachius Church, Tavistock, with a much mire recent cover. It’s been suggested that Sir Francis Drake, whose family lived at Crowndale nearby, might have been baptised here in the 1540s

The Tavy 5k is a monthly race hosted by Tavistock AC. I haven’t managed to do it for such a long time but managed to get there this morning. Met up with my friend who was celebrating her birthday today.

Tavistock Abbey - monks refectory or infirmary dining hall (now Abbey Chapel) The original entrance was through the 2 storey tower porch. New entrance created 1841 using arch from the adjoining disused Water Gate.
