Deep focus in THE BISHOP'S WIFE (1947).

Cinematography by Gregg Toland (1904-1948).

Here's my annual recommendation for #TheBishopsWife with #CaryGrant. It's on #TCM tonight at 8pm. Give those other Holiday films a break this year (especially *that* one) and give this one a try.

The fantastic part of this film is that Dudley, although an Angel, doesn’t really do anything mystical or supernatural, his greatest quality and power is that he treats everyone with respect, kindness and takes an actual interest in their lives. Something within us all.

As to my first TCMParty tweet, it was "I'm watching The Bishop's Wife right now. I suspect most women would gladly have an angel like Cary Grant around. LOL. #TCMParty." #TheBishopsWife

And now we have Karolyn Grimes, who played George's daughter Zuzu in #ItsAWonderfulLife, taking part in a snow ball fight against Bobby Anderson, who played Zuzu's father George as a boy in It's a Wonderful Life! #TheBishopsWife #TCMParty

A bit of personal trivia for everyone. #TheBishopsWife was the first movie I ever did #TCMParty to.

I find it so sad because Dudley must be so sad and lonely. He makes friends, starts to have feelings for them and then he has to leave, and they won't even remember him.

Monty Wooley gives a brilliantly subtle performance in #TheBishopsWife. Just as good here as he is doing screwball comedy in The Man Who Came To Dinner. #TCMParty
