Three family friendly entries by Herschell Gordon Lewis. It's not the most lavish release, but a decent set if you want weird shit for a Saturday night movie marathon.

It's a catchy tune... until you listen to the lyrics.

But doesn't that basically describe country music? #FrightClub #TwoThousandManiacs

At first I think "Nobody would follow a detour sign that fake".

And then I realize where we are...

So if you watch #TwoThousandManiacs, it does make sense how it might have been inspired by Brigadoon. A bubble of time in amber, shrouded by fog... but instead of beautiful and romantic, make it ugly and sinister.
It's a better movie than #2001Maniacs imo, but played straight. No laughs.

The original was a horror/gore classic, I felt it had some humor, mostly in the complete over-the-top-ness of violen and effects. I thought the remake went too far into camp, but de gustibus non est disputandum. #TwoThousandManiacs

That's certainly true. It was interesting though. I watched it right after and I'm glad I did.
Each version has its virtues, primarily hilarity in re the remake, but I appreciated how the original took its treatment of its characters seriously.

I'm positive we've watched this before, but can find no record, so it's probably been some years. Thanks for suggesting it!

And heh, yes, seconding the recommendation of #Brigadoon as a companion piece.
