Panel 3, I look to the side with a shaken sad face, no longer working. Panel 4, a shot of my hand drawing on the tablet as I continue to work while the intrusive thoughts pile in: Nobody reads your comic. You’re embarrassing. Panel 5, I continue to work with a pained expression: You never see praise for it. That’s because it’s a guilty pleasure to all your readers. Panel 6, I slump my head down as I succumb to the negative thoughts: You’ve never won an award and you never will. Because nobody respects you. Panel 7, I’m obscured by darkness as the intrusive thoughts continue to pile in, to the point of filling the entire background. My body/tablet obscure a lot said. I think the point is being made about the constant imposter syndrome and self-loathing. Panel 8, I look up with a bit of annoyed shock as the intrusive thoughts continue running in the background, and say: Hey wait a minute Panel 9, I look to the camera, with indignant anger: Oh my GOD. My stupid period’s coming up. It turns out this happens monthly, and I just need to catch it in order to allow myself to relax a little more lol

A comic where I am sitting outside on a table eating fast food. Panel 1: Me enjoying a good burger. Panel 2: The wind blows and my napkins start to flutter in the air. Panel 3: I say “whew” as I slam down the napkins onto the table with my hand, saving them from becoming litter. Panel 4: I think “I’ll put the paper bag and the drink over the napkins so they don’t blow away” as I do that action, crumpling the paper bag into a flat weight and putting the drink on top of it, weighing the napkins down. Panel 5: I continue to eat my burger Panel 6: Once I finish my burger, I say “Hm” as I start looking around the table, turning the container where the burger used to be around, clearly looking for something. Panel 7: I look at my dirtied burger-ridden hand with disgust, stick tongue out and say “Boy I wish I had napkins,” forgetting the napkins are right in front of me, they are just being covered up by the crumpled paper bag and the drink on top of it.

A diary comic that involves me sitting on the floor slouching over a laptop with my legs criss-crossed in a deeply uncomfortable way. Not very ergonomic! I reflect on this pose by thinking “This is a really stupid pose, maybe I should—“ before my black cat walks over and decides to curl up right under my legs, keeping me frozen in place, with my arms continuing to extend awkwardly as it was typing on the laptop. I don’t want to disturb my cat, so I nervously continue sitting in the terrible non-ergonomic pose, for the foreseeable future. Panel 1, Me slouching with my arms awkwardly reaching out to use the laptop while my legs are criss-crossed: This is a really stupid pose, maybe I should— Panel 2, Mia pokes her head out and notices me, I notice her back a little surprised, still in the same pose. Panel 3, Mia curls up under my legs, as my arms continue to hang over her, I have a blank face. Panel 4, I have a nervous anxious face because I don’t want to disturb Mia, so I retain the same pose despite finding it uncomfortable.

I ended up buying three bras for essentially the price of one that I would normally be forced to get in New York, thank you Portland!!! Very cool.

The title of the comic is “Powell’s Books,” to signify that was the place we just exited from. Panel one shows me and Souppy walking through Portland, I’m holding a heavy bag with a nervous expression. Me: I didn’t mean to buy so many books.. Souppy, smiling: I think it’s great! Panel 2 shows Souppy looking forward still smiling, trying to find a way to make me feel less guilty about spending money. Souppy: There’s no sales tax so you save money anyway! Panel 3 shows me staring at Souppy in dead silence, my eyes little beads. There’s almost a sinister feel to it. Souppy stares back a little confused. Clearly I am going to take advantage of my short visit to Portland by buying special bras that usually cost an arm and a leg in New York.

A comic about taking care of a sick senior cat and when to finally put them to sleep Panel 1, showing me sitting while my black cat Mia is lying on my lap: Later this month, I’m hosting an out-of-state get-together with a bunch of internet friends. Panel 2, shows a sad silence as I hold my cat on my lap and pet her, she sleeps soundly, looking tired. Panel 3, Mia continues to rest as I pet her: .. and we're beginning to think we might not need to book a cat sitter. Panel 4, Mia is showing hanging out inside her pet carrier, with her typical big eyes present: When Mia was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease three years ago, we were told she probably has about.. two years left. Panel 5, Mia is shown eating food. A sign points to the food saying “$800": In the meantime, she got diabetes. Arthritis. She takes six different medications to stay alive. Many other people wouldn't have been able to afford to keep her alive this long. Panel 6, I lie in bed with Mia and stare at her with a sad concerned face, as she stares back: We plan to move to Australia in the next few months, and she can't come with us. Australia has a tough quarantine process, too rough for a senior cat. Panel 7, Mia is shown with her big eyes, little stars in the background. She looks normal, though I made a point to show her eyes a little cloudier. She’s also slowly going blind: She has good days and bad days. She still has that spark, that spirit. Panel 8, depicting Mia throwing up and defecating on the floor, I facepalm with tears in my eyes: Sometimes. Panel 9, I sit with Mia on my lap with a sad face: I’ve been hoping for a sign to let her go. It's not obvious. I'm queasy about the idea of putting her down for becoming “too annoying” to deal with. What’s a good enough reason to kill your pet? Panel 10, Mia looks exhausted as I pet her head: She's here, she trusts us.. Panel 11, I start to tear up as I look at her: .. and we're thinking about when to put her to sleep.

Smol bean: Everyone I meet treats me so badly! Smol bean: How could they be so cruel to me! Smol bean, pulling out a megaphone: I must get my story out there! Fans: Stalkers! Fans: How dare they! Fans: What a jerk! Fans: Creeps! Fans: Wow! Fans: You're so brave Panel 2, fan with bow: Wow, I can't believe they would do such a thi-- Panel 3, smol bean, getting their foot accidentally stepped on by the fan with bow: Ow! Panel 4, fan with bow, panicking at their error: Oh no, I'm so sorry! Panel 5, smol bean pulling out their megaphone again: I've been attacked again. Isn't it horrible that I can't go outside without suffering all the crazy people who harass me? Fan with bow: Wait what! Fans: Ugh, such a creep! Fans: You don't deserve that! Panel 6: What do you do with this kind of situation? It's addictive for the validation seeker, and the environment they create means there's no way to reconcile. Panel 7: ... If you'd even want to. Me, suspicious: You seem to have.. a lot of these stories. Fans in the background, chanting for smol bean: You tell em! Fans: What a jerk! Fans: We support you! Fans: Wow! Panel 8, shows me walking away: Just makes me feel bad for everyone. It must be hell to live in a head like that. A diary comic about PDA Panel 1 shows a couple making out very overtly on the platform of an MTA subway. Panel 2 shows Souppy and me walking past them, me looking back with disdain saying “ugh”, as stuff like butt grabs and hair-fondling happens between the couple. Panel 3 shows me with annoyance, remarking “Those guys need to get a room,” while Souppy just stares down at me, no reaction to the scene. He probably didn’t even notice. Panel 4 shows Souppy and me sitting inside a subway train, him with an apathetic expression as I flop my arms around his head and torso, giving him a floppy hug, not realising that what I do counts as PDA as well.

Another old internet peeve I used to notice is cutesy cartoony characters representing the artist getting pushback from commenters, who think they need to make themselves “uglier” to represent the artist more. Avatar: I represent the artist! Commenter: You’re not fat or ugly enough you narcissist! So I needed to draw raccoon eyes on myself, I must depict sufficient ugliness. 2009 me had features such as raccoon eyes and messy hair, always looking sick and tired. I considered adding my mole for a while. I felt like a real liar otherwise. I thought, "I’m not remotely cute..” which resulted in drawing myself looking tired, sick, and messy. Anyway I noticed I stopped drawing my raccoon eyes recently. Turns out I stopped giving a shit! I shrug at this realisation! Maybe I just WANT to draw a cute lil cartoon me! Kinda bored of self-hatred! I say this while giving a thumbs up and a goofy cute little anime face with sparkles in the background.

A comic about coming across a little rat and not wanting to inconvenience it Panel 1 shows me walking down a sidewalk, next to me is a chain-link fence with a forest behind it. I’m cheerful. Panel 2 shows me come across a rat just standing on the sidewalk. I exclaim with an “Oh!” Panels 3 to 5 show the rat look at me with anxious surprise, then rush against the chain-link fence and try to crawl under it, bending the bottom of the chain link fence to hopefully fit itself under. Panel 6 shows me nervously say “Sorry, I’m not gonna bother you,” as I tiptoe around the rat, while it continues to try and bury itself under the chainlink fence. Panel 7 shows me looking back at the rat, smiling sadly, saying “I believe in you.” Panel 8 I say “keep your tail up, Gamba” as the rat finally successfully crawls under the chain-link fence and to what it believes is safety.
