##palestineaction
Today the order banning #PalestineAction as "terrorists" came into effect. But they are not terrorists. They are protesters trying to stop a genocide. This is a "first they came for ..." situation. Unless we stand in solidarity against this assault on our freedom, they will pick us off one by one.

Oh, fuck off, #EdMiliband. The #PalestineAction ban was absolutely intended to criminalise opponents of the British government's support for the #genocide in #Palestine, "grannies" or otherwise.

The UK government ceasing automatically to support almost anything the government of Israel does is a major shift. The next step should be to rescind the ban on #PalestineAction, to stop treating protesters as terrorists, and to acknowledge that those seeking to disrupt a genocide may have a point.

Lisa Nandy, the UK culture secretary, claims that #PalestineAction "wishes harm on the British people."
That is simply false. It is yet another retrospective justification by this government for its unjustifiable ban on the group.

If thousands of us stand up and say "I support #PalestineAction", what is the government going to do? Lock us all up for "terrorism" offences?
This is where we show them how solidarity works.

Is the government going to sit and watch while the #PalestineAction hunger strikers die? Is most of the media going to carry on ignoring them? Just how callous has the Establishment become?

This is also what Yvette Cooper, when she was UK Home Secretary, said about #PalestineAction. If you knew the secret stuff I know, you'd agree with me that they're terrorists. It's the cheapest and basest way for a politician to malign someone, and a clear sign of a flailing, undemocratic state.

A very welcome defeat for the monstrous effort to treat Palestine solidarity as a major crime and stifle it in the process. Starmer's 'Labour' government deserves nothing but the deepest contempt and the utmost hostility. #PalestineAction

In 2001, as the Terrorism Act 2000 came into force, I warned that it could be used to ban non-violent protest groups and imprison those who support them. Government spokespeople and cheerleaders told me I was talking rubbish.
And here we are.

Their demands are reasonable, their treatment is disgraceful. The government's intransigence is killing the #PalestineAction hunger strikers. Just as its complicity has assisted the genocide in Gaza. It needs to wake up right now to the moral consequences.

High Court: proscription of #PalestineAction was unlawful.

Greens voted against proscription, so we welcome this.

Govt must now immediately end its authoritarian attacks on peaceful protest, and fully address its complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Very glad the proscription of #PalestineAction has today been found to be unlawful.

The Green Party will always stand against authoritarian crackdowns on peaceful protest and continue to fight for peace and justice for victims of the genocide in Gaza.
