We are having one last burst of warmth in New England before fall settles in for good. The bees are making the best of it! My asters are absolutely covered in these pure green sweat bees, Augochlora pura #bugsky #nativebees #savethebees #plantnative

An illustration of why they call them sunchokes. They're so tall, they choke out the sun. This is in my chicken run. They (and the asters) provide cover for the birds. The birds provide the nutrients and humour. #plantnative #pocketprairie #nativerestoration #latesummer #autumn #nature #wildthings

Everybody shut up. At least six months of the 15 monarch caterpillars on my milkweed made it to butterfly stage! I also now have a good idea of where they became chrysalises - they love this miscanthus grass (elephant grass). Not native but still great habitat. #PlantNative #Pollinator #TheseKingsOK

#Chicago was recently named the most climate-resilient city in the WORLD, mostly thx to Deep Tunnel. BUT w/the intensity of rain lately, the water can't possibly get there in time. We'll need LOTS more green infrastructure to be truly resilient. #PlantNative blockclubchicago.org/2026/09/22/s...

Moment of Tuesday afternoon Zen: the Mountain Mint is alive with pollinators today. At least 10 spp. of critters (some in abundance) were making this clump of Pycanthemum their own. #biodiversity #plantnative #ifyouplantittheywillcome
