substack.com is a platform I hadn't really heard of prior to taking a current class at my school. It's one that, upon looking, seems to be used by writers and other creatives to connect with each other and their audience. #psychsocialmedia

I had never heard of Bluesky before, so I chose it to do my microbligging on for this class. According to their website, it is a decentralized open-source app that gives the user total control over their online experience.

I have decided to focus on the platform known as “FlipBoard.” FlipBoard is a platform that functions as a digital magazine. You can design your feed to only show articles on topics the user is interested in. The app will then create a personalized magazine. about.flipboard.com #psychsocialmedia

#itcanwait and #putthephonedown are both campaigns that are targeted to get people to quit checking their phones and help stave off distracted driving. Even Pokemon Go has led to an increase in fatalities and car crashes. Other groups such as MADD have focused on drunk driving.

Do you overshare about your kids on social media? Do you feel like it harms them or invades their privacy? What you post now could be online forever! I used to share what I thought was cute or funny, but when they became teenagers they told me it was embarassing so I stopped! #psychsocialmedia

If we block people on our feeds who disagree with us, are we protecting our mental health? Or are we isolating ourselves to only seeing people who agree with us and thus not expanding our understanding of the world and people in it? Which do you choose to do? #psychsocialmedia

Social media isn’t just entertainment. It amplifies prosocial behavior. From digital altruism to crowdsourcing, it allows small actions like sharing or commenting to create real impact. The power comes from connection, not just content. #psychsocialmedia

Yellow Journalism and sensationalism are prevalent on all major platforms. Sites get more engagement when they get clicks, and the best way to do that is to post shocking headlines and reports. The sites need to fact-check trending posts, similar to Twitter's community notes. #psychsocialmedia

Don't let Social Media make you less social! Life is about balance and everything has its place. Don't spend your life with your nose buried in a screen, bury it in a flower instead. Take time from your online life to connect with your real life right in front of you. #psychsocialmedia

Slacktivism can save lives! Some people think slacktivism is lazy activism but for lost people, lost pets and shelter animals it can be the difference between life or death. So share away all you armchair activists, it might just save a life! Slacktavism is activism! #psychsocialmedia

Grandma used to say..."If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". I think that is a lesson people on social media need to learn today. If you wouldn't say it to their face then don't say it online and even if you would, that doesn't mean you should! #psychsocialmedia

Not everything is fake news. Sometimes what is posted is just wrong. While the authors of DISinfomation (fake news) are just plain DIShonest, most authors of MISinformation are just MISinformed. It's our responsibility to decipher the differnece and truth before sharing either. #psychsocialmedia

“If it’s on the internet then it must be true.” Sadly, that sums up how people view information on social media. Because a person has a lot of followers, we tend to believe whatever they post. Social media news posts should have to post sources just like mainstream journalists. #psychsocialmedia

Multitasking is the name given to distractions that make us feel like we can accomplish a multitude of tasks at the same time. While it's possible to do many tasks at once, it does not mean we can do them well. Digital distance gives us the means to not pay attention to the moment. #psychsocialmedia

Gone are the days of physical searches through card catalogues for information on a particular topic. With the advancement in digital organization, the information we seek is now just a click away from the comfort of our own home. Digital cataloguing has made order from disorder. #psychsocialmedia

What is more powerful on social media- the personal connections or personal comparisons? Posting curated, edited, and filtered moments of our lives for others to see gives a distorted picture of reality. Are connections from social media real If we can’t present our true selves?

When you like, share, or hashtag a cause online, it is known as slacktivism. A low effort, low cost, low risk online activism that requires minimal time or commitment. Is this just a symbolic show of support or a step toward action and awareness?

It has been said to not believe everything you read on social media. When it comes to sadfishing, how can we tell if it is a real cry for help from someone or just a vague, exaggerated, dramatic search for attention and sympathy to manipulate readers? #psychsocialmedia

As responsible consumers and sharers of news in the digital age, it’s important to understand the difference between misinformation and disinformation. The core distinction is intent. Knowing the difference empowers individuals to reduce viral spreads. #psychsocialmedia

Is it disingenuous to create an online social media image to manage how others perceive you? To post edited, cropped, filtered, AI versions for the public to see seems to be the norm today. Is this deception or just an acceptable curated version of real life? #psychsocialmedia
