That's about the size of it, yes 😂
Thor learned the hard way, you don't mess with Útgarða-Loki. Then again, Thor learned everything the hard way.

Norse mythology is packed full of fascinating stories, but Norse reality offers a pretty good one too: Northern Kentucky women's basketball. Kyle Rossi has more.
The Norse Are Here
One famous Norse myth, The Tale of Utgarda-Loki, involves a pair of gods, Thor and Loki, and Thor’s servant Thialfi, undertaking a journey to the land of the giants. Upon their arrival at the castle of the giant king, they were mocked for their small stature, so they challenged the giants to a series of competitions to prove themselves. The visitors were defeated in each trial of speed, strength, endurance, and even drinking prowess.

Shout out to that one Danish comic book series that makes Marvel Thor look like a piss baby. Valhalla.

Random fun fact: An animated movie was made based on this comic book series and in the German version, Thor is voiced by Christopher Lee

Thorkil was a great explorer in Norse mythology who wanted to meet the gods. According to the "Gesta Danorum," he guided the Danish king Gorm to the castle of the troll Geirrodur in Jotunheim. Later, Thorkil found his way to a cave where the giant Utgarda-Loki was chained.

In Norse myths, the jotun Útgarða-Loki told Thor and Loki that they could only eat in his hall if they competed in some contest. Loki cleverly asked for his contest to be an eating one. He lost, since his opponent was actually Logi (Fire), and ate everything, even the bowls and table.

In Norse myths, when King Útgarða-Loki demanded that each of Thor's retinue perform a great feat, Thor's servant Thjálfi offered to outrace anyone in Útgarða-Loki's court. He only lost because the person he raced was a thought, and nothing is faster than a thought.
