❌ MYTH: Crime victims support long prison sentences.

✅ REALITY: Most victims of violence want violence prevention. Harm is real, but mass support for mass incarceration is not.

💖 Idiots in love who damn well know they're both making their lives more difficult but can't help it and make the choice to be with their partner anyway.

❌️ Enemies to lovers because 99.99% of the time it glosses over very real (in-story) abuse/harm/violence and paints it as "OMG they're so edgy."

❌ WOODEN SPOON

Our anti-award for 2025 is the weaponisation of violence against women to promote racist, anti-migrant agendas.

Thank you to @selmataha8.bsky.social @sbsisters.bsky.social for speaking about this issue tonight.

We urge journalists to expose and reject this whenever it arises.

❌️ meaningful domestic violence legislation - the risk of harm from men towards women increases during pregnancy. NZ still does not have adequate protections for women and children - despite domestic violence and coercive control by men towards women being a known and documented issue.

We’ve signed an open letter to the Home Secretary with a clear message:

Cutting protection for refugees will cause real harm. ❌

For people who have fled unimaginable violence and torture, this constant uncertainty is “terrifying, retraumatising, and can undermine progress towards recovery.”

Digital violence silences women, trans, and nonbinary people's voices, limits their participation in society, and perpetuates real-world harm. There's #NoExcuse for digital abuse. ❌

Now I'm thinking about it what sites are indexed and query-able, such as MSD with domestic violence survivors, disabled etc (basically everyone vulnerable you can think of), this should not have been launched in the state it is.

Our research of over a decade proves this:

❌ 65% felt suicidal

❌ Vulnerabilities ignored

Survivors of gender-based violence, women with serious mental health concerns, and pregnant women were detained - despite the documented harms.

Risk assessments failed to adequately reflect risk levels, placing women at risk of further harm.
