Went to see and hear #spiritbox at #013Tilburg yesterday. Heavy sounds and riffs, wrapped in angry and sad lyrics. #respect #memorable

That was quite a stunning performance of @suedehq.bsky.social last night at #013Tilburg Apart from instant classics from their latest two albums, the highpoint was #BrettAnderson silencing the venue with a stripped back rendition of Obsession. Now back to immersing myself in his moving biography 🥲

Did a before and after set at the #pendulum show in #013tilburg last Night. What a Crowd (and Band)!

Valentine’s Day … ughhh 🤨, but luckily we got @miwband.bsky.social performing slaughterhouse with @fitforaking.bsky.social tonight 🖤🎸🫶 #013Tilburg @frankschrijvers.bsky.social

For a band I don’t really know well (& hadn’t seen before) Suede were mighty impressive tonight @013Tilburg! Brett Anderson had to work really hard but finally Tilburg broke & reciprocated his cocky energy (talking about sexy singers). Not sure if he wanted to be Bowie or Jagger, he channeled both!

Had a wonderful night @013Tilburg with Beat i.e. Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai & Danny Carey playing King Crimson’s 1980s period records. They were enjoying themselves and so were we. Associations went from Talking Heads to David Sylvian, maybe a bit of Devo thrown in. But very much their own!

It would be too much to say that, besides a good opening act for Hiqpy @013Tilburg, Mood Bored was also a good name for their overall performance tonight. The singing voice was not my cup of tea but their sound, especially the 80s guitar, was pretty neat. My mood board stayed just on the right side

Whispering Sons brought a nice support act in Sacrificial Chanting Mood @013Tilburg. Not sure what the band name refers to, although the 3 women guitarists did sing together before an all-male rhythm section, quite unusual band composition. Heard noise & wave, like The Passions fronting Scratch Acid

Saw Tramhaus without knowing them 2,5 years ago (at Zeitgeist festival Doornroosje), which was a great introduction. Tonight @013Tilburg, at first I feared they had gone mellow, but it all worked out. Imagine Zack de la Rocha fronting Sonic Youth covering The Cure (or Siouxsie), they made us Sweat!

Swim School (from Scotland) supported Suede @013Tilburg tonight, not bad at all. Up tempo alt power rock along the lines of Garbage, Texas, Throwing Muses (sorry, I’m old). Great guitar sound, good (& sexy!) singer, lovely accent, pity the songs got a bit samey after a while (if you don’t know them)

Maybe should have drunk more, but Fellatio (opening for Tramhaus @013Tilburg) didn’t really get me. With a singer looking (not sounding) like 1978-era Nick Cave, their mix of electronic and dance music channeled Suicide, Nitzer Ebb and DAF, a.o.. Despite beats from a tin, can’t say I didn’t enjoy it

Fatoumata Diawara played a wonderfully engaging show in a, sadly half empty, @013Tilburg tonight. Saw her live 12 years ago and, while that show was great, she has grown tremendously. Excellent band with her too, esp. the rhythm section. Pity the female choir came from a tin. Thank you Fatou!

Hulde voor Doornroosje! Die zich niet laat leiden door onderbuikgevoel en maatschappelijke druk.

Shame on #013Tilburg

Ever got the feeling you’ve been cheated? Disappointed with The Streets @013Tilburg. First time I saw them after trying a few times. Music’s still great (A Grand Don’t Come For Free entirely, plus assorted hits). But so unclear what was live and what from a tin, my guess would be 75% the latter, meh

Another fine show, if only an hour, from Hiqpy @013Tilburg tonight. They’re essentially a grunge band with Peter Hook on bass and The Sundays’ Harriet Wheeler on vocals, but there have been far worse ideas in music history than that. Announced as a 90-minute show however, this felt a little thin

Am I going to pay €76 for The Black Crowes @013Tilburg? Nah, there are boundaries to what a trip down memory lane may cost. Wonder if they’ll sell out both nights at these prices. I’ll just reminisce about that time they blew up the whole sound system at the Pinkpop main stage in ‘92 or ‘93 …

Forgot to add this was @013Tilburg

First time I saw The Brian Jonestown Massacre (@013Tilburg) and, while perhaps this is how they do it, it felt like they were in the rehearsal room. Lots of chaos between songs, nothing said to the audience until 70 mins in, played 95 mins in what was announced as a 2-hr show. Maybe not their night?

Les Big Byrd are from Stockholm and they opened for The Brian Jonestown Massacre @013Tilburg tonight. Pretty nice sound overall, esp. when they went spacey, but not all songs were good and the singing left a lot to be desired. Last song sorta saved the set for me

Great gig from Whispering Sons @013Tilburg! Preferred the up-tempo songs with the flang-y guitar sound, but the slower songs were also good (sax!). Eat your heart out Andrea Eldridge!
