I hope you are reading this while in good health. I'm using QGIS 4.2 on a MacBook Air running on OS 26.6. I have a project with CRS USA_Contiguous_Lambert_Conformal_Conic ESRI:102004. The point geometry vector layers have been reprojected to the same CRS. Layer 1 has District ID number, district center latitude, and district center longitude attributes. Layer 2 has client ID number, client address latitude, client address longitude, nearest district center (empty column to be filled by join), and distance to nearest district center (empty column to be filled by join). Using "Join Attributes by Nearest" tool, I make Layer 2 the input layer. This gives me good results in identifying the nearest district center for each client. However, I am getting weird results for distance. The distances range from a few centimeters to a few meters. Of course, none of the points are that close together. What might I do to obtain accurate ("correct") distances between closest points? Thank you.
