#160km/h
Between Nimes Central and Nimes Pont du Gard the TGV does 160km/h; as soon as it hits the PDG junction it speeds up, getting to 290-odd in a very few minutes. Across the Rhône and through vineyards and looking across to mountains

Not going to get that here with our terrain and population. 160km/h is sufficient enough

160km/h is a side track speed.
Main tracks 250+km/h.
That are modern speed.

Imagine if we could elect a government that was visionary enough to build electrified railway with passenger trains very hour travelling at 160km/h. Love to see it happen.

To bring Auckland to Tauranga Inter City Rail up to snuff with full electrification, and trains running at 160km/h every hour both directions is about $4b or half a Road of National Party Significance. JAPAN, HONG KONG, AND SINGAPORE are all ready to assist us! Just ask!

Ma 160km/h-s teszteket csinálnak a bube útvonalon, úgyhogy nem megyek piacra. Oda ma születni kell

like trains are huge vehicles by default and ours here top out at 160km/h. its not the fastest train in the world but its enough speed and force to rip you apart if it hits you. don't fuck around. the trams aren't quite as much but they are still big and fast for their size.

The Netherlands is perhaps an example of this. Lots of regional rail runs at 140-160km/h making it possible to commute longer distances. Chicagoland level density overall but distributed very differently with much higher local density (towns not sprawl) which enables people to walk/cycle to station.

Modern signalling is a key part of increasing capacity across Europe’s rail network.

The Brașov–Sighișoara upgrade will introduce ERTMS and support passenger speeds of up to 160km/h, strengthening interoperability on an important cross-border corridor.

See the Derail Valley Signals mod and the AI Trains mod being in alpha is great because it turns the game into a horror game. Sometimes the signal system will just break and send an AI train directly towards me at a closing speed of 160km/h.

Won’t get that far, what with being pulled over first for doing 160km/h on the highway

Out of interest, what sort of rail project would equate to RoNS level of spending?
Are we talking a project like bypassing the Pukerua Bay - Paekākāriki section of the line?
Or something much more ambitions like, I dunno, a new / upgraded double track 160km/h line between Auckland & Hamilton?

Well, 🇸🇪 is gonna have some 🤭😋

And CP might soon prefer AVRIL to Avelia Horizon...

Btw, Madrid - Montagüe is more 155-160km/h than 120-140km/h.

Traffic on Décarie routinely drives at 120-130 km/h, I almost never see police monitoring traffic in Québec. I heard la CAQ also neutered the police group responsible for monitoring transport trucks.
