...Otherwise this shifts the years to 1613 & 1614 vs the Malone volume 1612 & 1613? Looking at the original accounts might clear things up, as the Malone formatting is rather confusing.

...stands built by Richard Conningsby in Beaulieu for the king in Aug, and an unstated place for K&Q in Aug-Sept by James Maxwell. Both payments were for 'standings twice' so I suppose they could each refer to one of those two standings built in the same month and year (Aug-Sept 1613)...

Thanks, Michael. Very intriguing! Do you think all the subsequent entries under 1612-13 actually date to 1613-14? I should add that Malone Collections XIII repeats this dating (Wells and Beaulieu football in 1611-12, and more football in 1612-1613). The football entries do appear to be distinct...

Galileo got an imprimatur for his 1613 heliocentric "Letters on Sunspots".

Legal issues with heliocentrism only started in 1616 after Galileo's "Letter to Castelli", where he told Theologians how to do their job, and he was the only one physically punished.
