The whole point that a lot of folks are missing here is that (IMO) Audra Winter knew damn well that she was publishing an old 1stdraft. There no other explanation for what we have seen. And she knowingly used the money from her pre-orders to fund her business even though...

Almost 104,000 words and 301 pages (or 255 on mobile?) later, I'm done with my first draft of "On The Edge Of Nowhere".
I did my plot, my twists, and my smut, and some characterization. But now what do I do?
Start book 2? Go back and immediately tear down draft 1?

"Don't you dare, for one millisecond, feel guilty about this. He was having heart issues for weeks, and when I finally got him an appointment at the cardiologist, he skipped it. Hell, last night's argument was about him skipping the appointment, for god's sake," she rushed, and a weight lifted from my shoulders. "I told him it would kill him, but he didn't listen to me, or any of the kids. We all tried to warn him, but the bastard always thought he knew best. If you ask any of the kids, they'll tell you the same thing. Anyway, I'll let you go, I appreciate the call," she paused and scoffed before sighing. "There's the hospital now. Have a good evening, Lily. We'll talk later." Then she hung up. I shook my head but knew how true it was. Brad Bradley was instantly hated by most everyone he met. As I walked back to Lucifer and Hannah, I wondered again how the nearly fifty years younger Nina, who I'd met during her modelling career, ended up dating then marrying the multi-millionaire. It read like a classic tale: older, wealthy man dates younger woman after his first wife dies under mysterious circumstances. He had money. She was a young model looking for fame and fortune. It should have been a closed case. Something about it had always tasted wrong to me, but I don't meddle in mortal affairs. I just planned their weddings.

I stopped working with a business coach today. Anyone who says 'You're probably not going to be successful with your 1st book, is an instant red flag.'Maybe I won't be. But this sort of discouragement while I'm working on a 1st draft is not welcome.

Sandy and Chris moved through the revelers with elegance and grace, his hand on her lower back, her hand on his shoulder, the huge diamond engagement ring on a flawlessly manicured hand reflecting light across the room. They were a beautiful couple, and it was clear they were deeply in love. She was silly to worry. “And the note?” “Yeah, I heard. What’s that about?” Olivia breathed out a long, small breath through her lips. “He seems to have some information that might help me.” “So why didn’t you stay and talk to him at the restaurant?” She sat up, sticking her hands between her tightly crossed legs as if trying to crawl deep inside herself. “I just freaked out. Caught off guard. He was the last person I expected to see there. Then I thought, what if he thinks I’m stalking him?” She flopped back on the loveseat again. “There was no rationale or logic to it. I just panicked.”
