If you do 200cfm in a 3000sf house you’re close to the 0.5 ACH cutoff in the code.

In practice we haven’t seen any inspector concerns (likely given that we don’t have any natural-draft gas appliances).

I’ve been running this homemade pc fan version 24/7, very quiet, 200cfm , 2x merv 13 allergen / Menards , about $120 parts total. Commercial version from “clean air kits”. about $200 + filters. For equivalent. Still 👍

uh bestiee while ur there can u uh get me a 6in or maybe 8 in in line duct fan - im looking for something 200cfm or higher but i guess i can take a little lower uhh and some semi rigid duct work to fit it - i think the ones they stock are all made in israel sigh but maybe the rigid kind isnt

(7/21) Now admittedly because that standard is so weak, it's trivially easy to do better which is why most range hood "landlord specials" seem to start closer to 200cfm. But here's the thing: that's still nowhere near enough for someone who is actually really cooking in their kitchen.
