My 4th #12for12 game, recommended by @akvo.bsky.social! This was easily one of the games I've ever played, and I experienced every second of my time with it. I highly recommend this game to fans of this game. Real thoughts in the images
Full disclosure, the authors are good friends of mine, but I loved this! The story and character writing are Bound Destiny's greatest strengths IMO, so it's amazing that Chuji and Akvo have written dialogue that captures each (1/2)

This is really cute, though I'm not sure it's "good"? It felt like games were over way too fast unless you played well, but what good play looks like is unclear to me. I suspect we were missing some important rules or strategies the rule book didn't hint at
Another game RetroAchievements gave me an excuse to replay, thanks to an excellent new set by @chuji.bsky.social! I feel the same way I did the first time I played it (see below). You should play this!! (1/2) #2026MediaThread

I watched my boyfriend play through this a while back, but I forgot how charming it was. It's just a collection of minigames and goofy, expressively animated characters. It's also kinda perfect to play through with people and take turns doing voices!

This definitely dates itself in a lot of ways, but it's still a good story well told. The central concept (traveling backwards through someone's memories) is such a good one that I guess they made two more games about it?

Some friends and I read through this together and it was really cute! This kinda feels made for Tumblr, with all the connotations that carries? It's the video game equivalent of a cupcake, and I like cupcakes #2026MediaThread

This is an adorable little Metroidvania I played on Switch, and makes a great multiworld game. Or, at least, it probably does if the generator doesn't put your missiles (needed to progress past the small starting area) late in someone (1/2)

My 3rd #12for12 game, recommended by @chuji.bsky.social! It's another one I might not have played otherwise, but I loved* it! YOU should play this if you're a Pokémon furry, Fire Emblem fan, or both. (1/2)

I played the base game immediately on its release, and was glad to have a reason to replay it because it's just a delight, a sweet little few-hour-long adventure that's exactly as long as it needs to be. They basically (1/2) #2026MediaThread

This is really good!! It's fairly long as indie games go, but doesn't overstay its welcome; and it's challenging but rarely feels unfair. There are great ideas old and new, and it's surprising and funny, for the whole playthrough. #2026MediaThread (1/2)

The first of my #12for12 games, recommended by @moxsully.bsky.social! This is what I'd call a Nintendo Power game (you need a guide to beat it), and one that makes me grateful for fast-forward in emulators. LOTS of grinding, which (1/2)

I say it every time, but I mean it: GDQ is something beautiful. There's nothing in the world like it. I was especially glad to see them finally, explicitly address the genocide in Gaza this time, something that's felt conspicuously absent from a fundraiser for MSF.

A kinda-mystery, kinda-drama, kinda-slice-of-life story about Pokémon teen investigators. I highly recommend it if you enjoy having Big Feelings about Pokémon, which is to say, if you're a PMD fan. (1/2)

This has light puzzles and platforming, and VERY light combat, but mostly it's about being a little lizard, exploring, climbing on walls, breaking pots, and eating bugs. Sometimes, that's exactly what you need. It has surprisingly good music, too! #2026MediaThread

This was my third time playing through Celeste, and my first ever Archipelago! Finding creative ways around obstacles in the absence of important level mechanics has given me an even deeper appreciation for this game's movement. (1/2) #2026MediaThread

A level-based Metroidvania which constantly *takes away* one of your abilities (jumping, shooting, or shield) temporarily. This leads to twisting, mazelike level design that's almost as clever as it is confusing and frustrating.
*2023 on PC/GBA

I heard some people didn't like this, and I'm not sure why? Probably anything would've felt like a bit of a letdown after the delirious heights of Chapter 4 and a year's wait, but it was still very good overall.

This was one of my favorite games as a kid, but it definitely still holds up. The Djinn/Summon system is ingenious, and it's kind of amazing what they managed to squeeze out of the GBA. Next up: TLA (and maybe replaying Dark Dawn for the first time) (1/2) #2026MediaThread

I've yet to find a first-person puzzle game I didn't like. This one has some really cool mechanical ideas, and I don't think it even really explores them completely, as none of the puzzles are especially hard. The story didn't do much for me, there's (1/2)

I know I say this for every one of these, but it's just so nice to have two weeks a year that are so unrelentingly positive, and inclusive, and fun. I caught even less of this live than usual, so any VOD recommendations would be appreciated lol #2026MediaThread

A great game to play with your partner(s) over the course of a week, because it's actually 50 games! I probably won't get it myself, since I'd force myself to get all golds, if not all cherries. There are several games I'd like to play more of, though
