Putting 2 and 2 (point4 Children) together: Ben and Tina’s deadbeat dad Frank is played by Don Henderson, who may be better remembered in cult circles as the officer in the Star Wars conference room who *doesn’t* get choked by Vader! 🙂

Been off work unwell the last 2 days and started rewatching #2point4children. I loved it when I was younger. The socio-economic & political position of the Porters would be unrecognisable in modern day Chiswick. The house they used to film in is worth £1.5m😅

Check the sofa - BBC Comedy clearly pretty savvy at reusing props in the 1990s.

‘2Point4Children, still not available on BBC Video’
'Leader of the Pack, the first episode of 2point4 children, was broadcast on this day in 1991. Written by Andrew Marshall, it ran for eight series and 56 episodes.

2Point4Children - Relax-ay-voo (BBC1, 1994). A mysterious internet contact starts granting Xmas wishes (such as turning off the TV and having US soldiers in thongs storm the house). I love 1990s depictions of The Web. And soldiers in thongs. A funny, ridiculous, briefly very hot, episode.

2Point4Children - Misery (BBC1, 1992). The family endure Xmas at Nan's. A good episode from a good series that unfairly fell into obscurity. The Stephen King spoof sequence has stayed with me since I was nine.

Tried making an essential TV Xmas list, but then I died of extreme old age, so this is a non-exhaustive (but exhausting) list of some of my favourite Xmas telly.

For reasons that escape even me I've been rewatching some old sitcoms, The Good Life, 2Point4Children etc, and it is striking how much more openly "into" each other the couples are compared to a lot of modern TV. There's a familiar flirting and teasing that just doesn't exist anymore.

Show me a more 90s cast than:
- Him off 2point4children (RIP)
- Tony from Men Behaving Badly
- Mandy from Game On
- Your actual Tony Slattery (RIP)
- Also Griff Rhys-Jones for some reason

Oh and Danny the drug dealer from Withnail and I who was doing this at the same time as Phantom Menace.

Thinking of Spica's gang in The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.

It includes Tim Roth, Mace Tyrell, Julius Caesar, and the Dad from 2point4Children as members.

I’ve been rewatching 2point4children on That’s TV for the first time since the 90s and I’m genuinely puzzled how this was broadcast in prime time slots. It’s as dark and macabre as One Foot In The Grave - which was shown at 9pm. Strange.

This was after the first series of 2point4children . My mind is blown.

Ed Bishop is best-remembered for his lead role in Gerry Anderson's UFO but before that & for many years after he had many guest roles where an American voice or character were required such as in 1993 as a TV newsreader with bowtie in an episode of sitcom 2point4children. Jay Benedict on the left.

@dirtyfeed.org That’s TV 2 are running a stack of 2point4children Christmas Specials, if you’re interested.

Though given That’s rather chequered history as a (pseudo-local) TV operator, it does feel a bit disconcerting somehow.

Merry Christmas, John.

Had a watch of this comparison between 2Point4Children and My Family linked in the blog post earlier, and as someone who liked both equally back in the day (and still do), it's funny to remember the differences both sitcoms had with the genre
